A successful city broker, Peter leads the life of the modern, materialistic, high achiever. He’s one of those enviable types who seems to possess a golden touch. The world of commerce seems to be at his command…and everyone he encounters wants to be his friend. Is he charmed, or blessed?
Being a success has it consequences. Peter has to make compromises when it comes to the amount of time he spends with his perfect family…but, if he cannot spend enough time with them today…there is always tomorrow. After all, what can go wrong? In Peter’s world, things have a happy knack of falling into place, doing as expected…sticking to his plan. Until, the plan falls apart – and suddenly, Peter finds himself thrown into a world of uncertainty that he is utterly unprepared for. His life screeches to a stand-still and everything changes…forever.
Peter leaves his life in the city to seek comfort in isolation and routine on a remote, beautiful island, close to the sea. It is the sea which connects him to his past and those he loves and has lost. His life is the ordered life of a Lighthouse Keeper, unvarying and, ultimately, comforting.
But, Peter’s calm and contained existence is turned upside down when, following a dramatic and menacing storm, a little girl, Charlotte, arrives on his island. She is the daughter of magician ‘The Grand Charismo’ and she insists she must wait on the island for the arrival of her father. With Charlotte comes magic, irresistible charm and a zest for life which forces Peter to confront the memories he has tried to bury, enabling him to love life again.
Blessed was shot in just 19 days in London and on the beautiful isle Ornsay, located on the edge of the Isle of Skye. Blessed is written and directed by Mark Aldridge.
