Mark Aldridge and the Score for Blessed
From the earliest script stage, I knew that the Score for ‘Blessed - pick a life... any life’ was going to be central to the impact of the narrative. Music is a key character in the film so, when a composer of Mike Moran’s sensitivity, experience and reputation began to create the score, I knew Blessed was in perfect hands. Listening to Mike’s first ‘sketches’ left me deeply moved – the start of a journey which was never anything other than inspirational. Recording the orchestra in Budapest was one of the highlights. Watching Mike conduct, with the close assistance of Graham Walker, the renowned Music Production Supervisor, was a magical experience. It was also great fun. For the first time, the pressure wasn’t on me. It was all on Mike and Graham. Not that it showed. The end result is a score which is breathtaking in it’s emotion and beauty and I am so proud, not only of the fact that Mike has created such an amazing soundtrack for Blessed, but also that working with him has resulted in my being able to call him friend.
